Hidden Gems High School Fair Sunday Sept 27 at Lake View High School 1-4pm

September 26, 2015 at 5:57 pm 6 comments

Late posting, but the Hidden Gems fair is tomorrow.  This is a great (overwhelming) place to meet many of the high school options for (CPSO mantra…say it with me now…) Casting a Wide Net!

Public, private, parochial, charter and even a boarding school will be there!
I was able to have some great one on one conversations with principals there in the past.
A few test prep places and other vendors will be there.  Eat a big breakfast, it takes a lot of energy to navigate due to such widespread school attendance.

We would have loved to attend this event. However, the email was sent out the NIGHT before the event. I’m sure you can understand how frustrating this type of mistake can be. Of course we want what’s best for our child but with little notice we cannot change our other plans. I hope in the future we will find out about these opportunities with advance notice. Sincerely, Jennifer Parsio

@3- we hold the Hidden Gems Fair annually around the last Sunday in September, so we hope we will see you next year. CPSO has been busy but we have tried our best to get the word out for several weeks via our http://www.chischoolgps.com website, flyers, school counselors, Facebook, local newsletters, DNAInfo and Chicago Parent. We had reached out to larger media outlets but I don’t think they deem this newsworthy enough, unfortunately. Getting the word out is always the toughest part, and we greatly appreciate everyone who has shared the news with friends and acquaintances!

” I hope in the future we will find out about these opportunities with advance notice. ”

I would say it’s a parent’s responsibility to seek out these type of events. If you sit around and wait for things to come to you, your kid is going to be out of luck. Don’t be so lazy and blame others for your mistakes, it is not setting a good example for your child.

Thank you @Tammy. For those who missed previous messages, my mom is sick and I am acting as her caregiver during much of my free time (this week in particular) while also managing my son’s important 7th grade year.

Unfortunately my posts will be less frequent for the time being so its best not to rely on me (CPSObsessed) for up-to-the minute information. ChicagoSchoolGPS is kind enough to bug me to post information that will help people but I’m not always able to get to it right away as I was in previous years. So please keep an eye out in other places for dates etc and we can continue to use this forum as a place for discussion and information sharing. Thanks for understanding.
