I’m confused. Why would an information session aimed at parents charge a $5 fee? Doesn’t seem very legitimate.

Someone’s gotta pay for the admin stuff to run the group. The people running it are volunteering their time. It’d be nice if the people benefitting would help pay for things like the trip to springfield they made on their own time/dime to fight for stuff for all our kids, no?

@1 – The room costs $86/hr to rent. We have costs for printing materials. We have costs to maintain our website. We have costs for transportation. We have costs for a lot of things and we have been working for free for over two years. We have no corporate funders as many other “educaton reform” groups have. And it’s an optional $5 fee.

@#1, Seriously? These are good people running RYH. Surely you can understand the costs involved in running and organization like it. I pay more for my morning Starbucks run.

Can anyone give a play by play of the meeting tonight in Logan Square. I hear it was somewhat heated at times?
