We received the call at 4pm and have to call back by 5pm tomorrow. Minority applicant. I will call in the morning to accept the spot. I am looking forward to it.

I know the feeling of being so happy you can’t stop smiling. I felt the same way when we received the letter in March. I have always been so proud of my son & when we learned that he was accepted – wow!! we just know this is a blessed opportunity and I’m so lucky to be his Mom during this process.

It’s reassuring for me to KNOW that he my son will be attending a great school, with great classmates whose Mom’s are as passionate about their education as I am, his.

Still praying, going nuts, calling, emailing, etc. for a spot for a 3rd grader at Lenart. We were offered a spot at Pritzker, however kids would be in two different directions which would be tough for this mom who works everyday…….Meanwhile anyword on Pritzker? I know nothing about it.

SW Side mom – I’d better be getting to bed – have the Ridge Run tomorrow, but I’ll definitely drop you an email soon – I’d love to get our sons together sometime! We’ve got a lot of little girls on our block his age, but most of the boys are a lot older – he’s always trying to play with the 8 year olds at the park.

The only negative I’ve heard is that there is no recess.
I think it all depends on the quality of your local school and whether you think you child will be adequately challenged there (and I don’t mean necessarily given super-advanced work — just that the academic standards are high and that the parents expect a lot from the school.) For some reason it’s hard, psychologically, to turn down a spot in a gifted program but if the travel is challenging and the child isn’t in desperate need of being with other brainiacs, it’s fine to stay put.

It doesn’t show up much in these comments. My to-be 3rd grader just was accepted in the last wave of calls, and of course they want an answer by Tuesday. We’re somewhat reluctant to pull him from our good neighborhood school now. (We had him tested mostly to be sure we weren’t neglecting humongous intellect, and he scored just at the 130 level.)
