Can someone please just tell me the best Gifted Centers/Classical Schools to select in order of preference on the application? It would save me hours of agony. I know that seems a bit lazy, but I am assuming I could benefit from CPS obsessed parents' past research.... This is for Kindergarten and I live in Lincoln Park.

The neighborhood school should not be an after thought. Assuming you dig your neighborhood and you plan to stay; a neighborhood school connects you to the community in a way that commuting to Lincoln Park could never accomplish. I know North side parents all assume the only the magnet schools are worthy of their kids - but at the very least give your local school a look - so many schools have turned the corner in the last couple of years. Your kids will thank you for the hours saved in commuting and in the friends they make with kids from their own neighborhood.

Hey,

I just wanted to thank you for starting this blog. It's really fun to read your posts, as much as I am learning what I have been looking for all around the place in just one blog. My son is 3.5 and we still have a year to go, but you know, in a blink we'll be there.
